Inca: The Golden Sun
-->
Inca: The Golden Sun by Peachill is a collaborative effort of freelance writers,
rather than something written by a single author. The story is about the
Spanish conquest of the Incan empire as managed by Francisco Pizarro. According
to the book’s preface, “At Peachill, we are transparent in our belief of
artistic collaboration. You will not see a single ‘author’ name on our cover.
This book has been a team effort and could not have happened any other way.”
This is a historical novel which attempts to stay as close to known events and
facts as possible. I particularly learned more about the Incan Empire as it
existed prior to the conquest than I had known before. They did a masterful job
of capturing this collision of cultures. It’s a well-written effort and seems
to have accomplished what Peachill had intended. However, there was a stale quality to the story and I’m not particularly
driven to read more of their other four books which cover other historical
world topics.
