I’m not sure
just how The Judge by Farin Powell
got on my Kindle. I get books from lots of different places, so this one just
appeared and I thought I’d give it a try. It’s a crime novel/murder mystery –
and I gave it up at the 26% mark. Judge Walter McNeil was one of those judges
who always handed down harsh sentences, seeming to take the position that those
charged with crimes and appeared before him were guilty first and had to prove
their innocence, not the other way around. The plot seemed to be one of
revenge, some of those who had been sent to prison got together to get even
with him for further ruining their lives. I found myself not liking any of the
characters, the judge or the criminals who were after him. Maybe the detectives
that would be charged with solving the crimes kidnapped judge would have been
interesting, but the story did not sufficiently hold my interest to continue.
