Younger Next Year

Younger Next Year was recommended by a good friend who said it changed his life. The subtitle is “Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy – Until You’re 80 and Beyond.” Once again, I’ve ventured into the realm of nonfiction. The book is written by Chris Crowley, a retired trial attorney, and Henry S. Lodge, M.D., an internist and gerontologist. This is an optimistic and exciting approach to aging with a formula that consists of exercise, sensible diet, and developing or maintaining relationships with people. We do not have to be victims of age-related decline, but it will take some effort. Crowley provides a lot of anecdotal information, and Lodge provides some science to back up their suggestions. Their formula makes sense, and it’s based on being dedicated to the effort, exercising 6 days/week forever – lots of cardio and some strength training. They also reasonably address topics like sex and alcohol use. The book and their promises are entirely believable, and since this is about health and life, it seems worth it to me to have a look at the book. There is a separate edition for women.
