This was a totally self-serving autobiography, as anyone might expect from a politician. I thought his memoirs about the Cuban missile crisis, the Kennedy assassination, Watergate, the Clinton impeachment, and other such stuff was interesting, but there was too much fluff. I would not have read this had it not been a book for my wife’s book club, and she was not impressed either. So, even though you would have let this one get by you anyway, I agree that is a good move

and that's how many hours of your life you'll never get back?
ReplyDeleteGood article to know about views and thought about the book “True Compass by Ted Kennedy”. Let me try reading and will share the views about the book again as I have not read. One thing is most of the people will be impressed by the autobiography of another one as it will reveal so many difficulties that the person has faced.
ReplyDeleteSometimes reading books of some great persons will give idea about the life of the person. We can know how that person has leaded the life. Reading books will give great pleasure to the person who is interested in reading autobiography. It’s not a waste of time as such if we read even the book which is not good to person who is reading that. Reading books is a great.
I'm curious, was his backstabbing of Jimmy Carter discussed? I'm assuming he didn't bring up his wrong turn (his compass wasn't working) and subsequent phone calls to his attorney involving Mary Jo.
ReplyDeleteNow, this isn't me being the usual pain in the ass I am to some political blogs, but I'm always amazed at how these books sell (and they usually do very well).
